MFA Welcomes June 2021 Residency Guests

The MFA in Writing program has planned an incredible line-up of guests for June's residency, including (clockwise from upper left) poet and attorney Reginald Dwayne Betts, writer Ted Chiang, author Mohamedou Ould Slahi, writer and editor Larry Siems, literary agent Kirby Kim, and poet Nicole Sealey.

Reginald Dwayne Betts has written three acclaimed collections of poetry, Felon, Bastards of the Reagan Era, and Shahid Reads His Own Palm, and is the author of the memoir A Question of Freedom: A Memoir of Learning, Survival, and Coming of Age in Prison.

Ted Chiang, who will be appearing at residency in conversation with his literary agent Kirby Kim, is the winner of four Nebula awards, four Hugo awards, the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, and four Locus awards. Chiang's collections include Stories of Your Life and Others and Exhalation: Stories.

• Mohamedou Ould Slahi, author of Guantánamo Diary and the new novel The Actual True Story of Ahmed and Zarga, will appear at residency in conversation with his editor and collaborator Larry Siems of the Knight First Amendment Institute.

• Nicole Sealey is author of the poetry collections Ordinary Beast and The Animal After Whom Other Animals Are Named.
