Nicole Nowlin ’11 Receives Recognition for Donating Kidney
Nicole Nowlin ’11 was featured in an online KGW-TV news report on Sept. 22, 2022, for donating a kidney to a distant family member. Nowlin, who is the Pacific Alumni Association's Board president, donated a kidney to her second cousin, Brandy Carrico, whom she connected with through Facebook.
Carrico has polycystic kidney disease, which led her to enter end-stage renal disease in January 2021. After learning of the severity of her cousin’s condition, Nowlin reached out offering to participate in the transplant. After undergoing a medical approval process, the transplant took place on March 1, 2022. The procedure went well with both parties emerging healthy.
