Sophia Ries OD '21: Pacific's College of Optometry Valedictorian

Sophia Ries OD '21 is the Pacific University College of Optometry 2021 valedictorian. She also received the college’s 2021 Beta Sigma Kappa Silver Medal Award and Oregon Optometric Physicians Association Scholarship.

Ries, who earned her doctor of optometry degree in May 2021, worked as an optometric case analysis tutor during her time at Pacific.

The College of Optometry provides a foundation in basic and clinical sciences, as well as significant hands-on experience in serving diverse populations of patients. Students also are involved in outreach locally and around the world, as they prepare to serve patients anywhere their careers take them. The college offers bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programs in vision science, as well as a doctor of optometry degree.
