Taiba Qaaderi '22 Receives American Association of University Women Award

Taiba Qaaderi '22 was named a winner of the American Association of University Women award for non-traditional students at the 2022 Pacific University Undergraduate Awards Ceremony.

As a child of Afghan refugees, Qaaderi has learned the value of a good education and a stable career. Her life circumstances kept her from the traditional high school-to-college route, but they have not stopped her from seeking and attaining her goals.

Her nominator wrote: "Taiba has taken every opportunity to learn from challenges and to improve. She brings a desire to do the right thing and doesn't want to let herself or her instructors down. She is open to critique and is honest and self-reflective when she knows there are areas where she can improve."

Wendy Fargo '22 also won a $2,500 scholarship from the American Association of University Women.
