Join the Staff Senate or a University Standing Committee!

Are you passionate about the Pacific University community and enjoy connecting with others? Nominate yourself (or a colleague) to join the Pacific University Staff Senate! There are four senator positions currently open for 2026-28!

Staff Senators have a front-row seat to learn and engage in larger decisions at the university. The group reviews and discusses policies, procedures, new programs, and meets with administrative leaders to ensure staff input is heard. Staff Senate also helps organize professional development opportunities, social events, and communications to fellow Boxers. 

Staff Senate meetings are held monthly on the third Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The typical monthly time commitment is 3-4 hours. Learn more about Staff Senate and the current 13 members.

Staff are eligible to run for Staff Senate if:

• they are not considered faculty or administration

• are benefit-eligible (0.5 FTE and up)

• and they have been employed at Pacific for at least one year.

We still have positions available! This is a rewarding way to build your network across campuses, develop leadership skills, and ensure staff perspectives are heard where decisions are made.

The Commitment 

• Time: ~2 to 3 hours per month

• Schedule: Monthly meetings from September through May

• Eligibility: Open to non-faculty staff (specific criteria noted below)

Open Positions

• University Diversity Committee

  • Focus: Partner with University Council to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives across student enrollment, faculty, and staff.

  • Openings: 2 positions for staff from any campus location, one must have a student-facing position (2-year terms ending in August 2028)

• University Honors & Awards Committee

  • Focus: Nominate and recommend individuals for presidential and annual employee recognition awards.

  • Openings: 3 positions (one 1-year term; one 2-year term; one 3-year term)

  • Eligibility: Benefits-eligible staff with 3+ years of employment at Pacific.

• University Technology Committee

  • Focus: Evaluate technology policies and advise on new educational technology implementations and communications.

  • Openings: 1 position (1-year term completion)
