The Pacific University College of Education welcomes speech-language pathologists and teachers, as well as current students, alumni and other community members, to advance their professional practice with a free workshop on dyslexia during inauguration week.
Drs. Mary Mitchell and Jenny Larsen, from Pacific's School of Communication Sciences and Disorders and Child Learning and Development Center, will explore phonology, orthography and morphology as they relate to dyslexia. The simple view of reading and different types of reading disorders will be reviewed. The language blocks of spelling will be used to demonstrate spelling analysis with active participation and discussion of specific samples and case studies. The presenters will share a variety of resources related to literacy disorders, assessments and interventions.
The session, lunch and certificates of completion are free. Participants also may apply to earn .2 ASHA CEUs (introductory level)or 2 teacher PDUs.

This continuing education event will be held in Berglund Hall Room 145/147 on the Forest Grove Campus. Driving directions to campus and an interactive campus map, as well as additional guest information for Inauguration Week, are available online.
The closest on-campus parking is in Parking Lot C. However, parking may be limited as there will be a community health fair in Lot C Saturday morning. You may also consider parking in Lot O across the street.
Street parking is available around campus. Please follow posted parking regulations.
