If your department has a staffing need and you would like to request a temporary worker, please begin by completing our Temporary Worker Request Form. This form is designed to help HR understand your specific requirements, including core responsibilities, necessary technical skills, and budget parameters. Once you submit the form, our team will review the details and partner with our approved staffing agencies to source and vet the most qualified candidates for your review. After we find the right match and the assignment is complete, we will follow up with a brief performance review to ensure the process met your expectations and to assist with any future planning.
Steps in the Process
Step 1: Complete the Temporary Worker Request Form with your specific job details.
Step 2: HR will source candidates based on your "must-have" criteria.
Step 3: You review resumes and interview top picks to select the best fit.
Step 4: Once the job ends, complete the Performance Review Form to help us refine future searches.
Frequently Asked Questions
How soon can I expect a temp worker to start?
Generally, the sourcing and vetting process takes between 3 to 10 business days depending on the complexity of the role. For highly specialized skills, it may take longer. We recommend submitting your request as soon as you anticipate a need.
What is a "Bill Rate" and why is it higher than the temp’s hourly pay?
The bill rate is the total hourly cost to the department. It covers the worker’s wages plus the staffing agency’s costs for payroll taxes, workers' compensation insurance, and administrative fees.
What happens if the temp worker isn't a good fit for my team?
If a worker is not meeting expectations, please contact hraccount@pacificu.edu immediately. We can work with the agency to end the assignment and find a replacement that better suits your needs.
Who is responsible for approving the temp worker's timecards?
The department supervisor who oversees the temp’s daily work is responsible for verifying and approving hours worked each week.
