Q. What is your educational background?
Associate of Science.
Q. What inspired you to pursue a career in pharmacy?
I was inspired to pursue a career in pharmacy after working as a pharmacy technician for ten years. During that time, I saw firsthand the impact pharmacists have on patients; whether it was helping someone understand their medication, finding a more affordable option, or simply offering reassurance during a stressful moment. Watching my pharmacists advocate for their patients, solve complex medication issues, and build trusting relationships showed me the kind of provider I wanted to become. Those experiences solidified my desire to advance my education and step into a role where I can make that same meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Q. Why did you choose Pacific University School of Pharmacy?
Attending Pacific University School of Pharmacy was a deeply personal decision for me. Staying close to my family means everything, especially during the demanding years of pharmacy school. Having my support system nearby has been essential, keeping me grounded, motivated, and connected to the people who matter most. Pacific offers the unique opportunity to pursue my dream of becoming a pharmacist without sacrificing precious time with my family, particularly my children during these formative years. The school’s welcoming environment, small community feel, and emphasis on compassion and service made it feel like the right place for me; not just academically, but personally. My choice was not only about where I wanted to study, but also about where I wanted to grow, both as a future pharmacist and as a parent.
Q. What has been your favorite experience so far as a pharmacy student?
My favorite experience so far has been the hands-on learning I gained through my Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) rotations. Working directly with patients has helped me connect classroom knowledge to real-world care. I have also enjoyed participating in student organizations such as APhA-ASP and Kappa Psi. Through these groups, I have had the opportunity to give back to the community by organizing fundraising events, participating in outreach activities, and helping at vaccine clinics. These experiences have not only contributed to my growth as a future pharmacist, but also as a leader, teaching me the value of service, teamwork, and community engagement.
Q. What do you enjoy doing outside of pharmacy school?
Outside of school, I cherish spending time with my family. Whether we are relaxing at home, embarking on small adventures, or celebrating milestones together, these moments help me recharge and stay connected to those who mean the most. Taking time away from pharmacy school serves as an important reminder of why I am working so hard and helps me maintain a sense of balance in my life.
Q. What advice would you give to prospective or incoming pharmacy students?
If I could offer a piece of advice that I wish I had received as a prospective student, it would be to give yourself grace. Pharmacy school is challenging, but perfection is not required for success. It is important to stay organized, seek help early, and surround yourself with people who lift you up. Trust that you belong here, even on the hard days.
Q. Looking ahead, what career goals or interests are you considering after graduation?
After pharmacy school, my hope is to become a pharmacist who truly makes a difference in the lives of patients, particularly those in underserved communities. I aim to use my clinical skills, compassion, and all that I have learned to support, listen to, and care for those in need. I also aspire to build a stable and fulfilling career that allows me to provide for my family and continue to grow both professionally and personally.
