Pacific Students & Faculty Excel in Research, Scholarship

Research and scholarships are important pieces of the Pacific University School of Pharmacy.

Summer Research Awards

This summer was the second year of our Summer Research Award program, allowing incoming pharmacy students to participate in mentored research before starting pharmacy school.

Five incoming P1 students — Jessica Lally, Quintin Love, Arthur Nguyen, Aimy Ung and Rachel Azevedo — participated in research spanning cancer pharmacology, neuropharmacology, infectious diseases, pharmaceutics, and pharmacokinetics.

New this year was an expansion of the program to include undergraduate students that are interested in pharmacy school. Pacific undergraduate students Kristin Turcu, Tia Uehara, Casey Johnson, Hung Nguyen, Ryan Colson, Ivana Wu, and Shannon Hammond received Summer Research Awards.

APPE (Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience) students and student volunteers joined faculty and staff in a remarkably busy and productive summer at the SOP pharmaceutical research lab. Student presentation events occurred throughout the summer to showcase research projects.

OSHP Annual Seminar

This past April, Class of 2018 PharmD candidates Kamryn Plechot and Erin Wilson earned first place at the 2017 OSHP Annual Seminar Student Poster Session with Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Properties of Vancomycin in Various Pediatric Populations. Dr. Fawzy Elbarbry, PhD, RPh and Dr. Brigg Turner, PharmD, BCPS-AQ ID supported this work. In total, seven poster presentations were delivered by our students with the help of our faculty and staff.
