Before moving to Portland, she pursued her love of literature by working as a story editor and development executive for film studios, independent production companies, and film directors. In addition to books and cinema, she loves live music, theatre, dance, and all performing arts. She completed her B.A. in Comparative Literature from the American University in Paris after attending the University of California, Santa Cruz.
