COVID-19 Information

Outdoor Pursuits is offering outdoor equipment rental services and day trips to both Pacific students and non-students. We ask that you review the other information, including the updated rental reservations, pick up, and return procedures, prior to making a reservation.

The list of available equipment and trips will be updated as we adjust to each phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. If you have any questions, you can email us at outdoors@pacificu.edu, or call us at 503-352-2264.

We appreciate your patience with this situation, and hope that you are all able to stay active, spend some time in the fresh air, and maintain your health! If you have any questions about COVID-19 or how Pacific University will be functioning during this time, please visit the COVID-19 Response and Planning webpages.

Enjoy Spook-tacular Evenings with Outdoor Pursuits

While students gorge themselves on sweet treats such as caramel apples, kettle corn, and candy over the spooky Halloween weekend, Outdoor Pursuits also has a few sweet treats lined up in the upcoming weeks before Thanksgiving!

Indoor rock climbing trips are scheduled at 6 p.m. on both Wednesday, Nov. 3 and Wednesday, Nov. 17. These indoor excursions will certainly be warmer and dryer, plus just as much fun as a day out on the rocks! Transportation, gear and instruction is provided for this evening getaway. Grab a friend and reserve your space for Nov. 3 or Nov. 17, or both!

On Sunday, Nov. 7, the Pacific community will have the option to build a customized day trip! With custom trips, you get to decide what you're doing and where you're going. This is the perfect opportunity to spend the day your way outside with the support and instruction of the amazing OP staff. Don't be shy if it's something you have never tried before, as your instructors will provide all the gear and direction you need! If you have any questions, or are wondering what trip types are available, check out the Trip Descriptions page or contact the Outdoor Pursuits Office at 503-352-2264

One of the last activities of the semester is the opportunity to create something that can be used on the water during spring and summer. Plan, create, and carve your own greenland style paddle for sea kayaking at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13. This is an all-day event where students will learn and practice the techniques to carve their own paddle, with clear instruction from Joanne Barta and Don Beale. Register for this carving lesson and walk away with a custom handmade paddle, plus additional knowledge about wood carving and paddle building.

Contact Outdoor Pursuits at 503-352-2264 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with questions, or feel free to drop by the office in the Milky Way to speak with associates in person.
