Improve the World at the 2023 Inspired Ideas Competition

Help make the world a better place through the Inspired Ideas Competition hosted by the Berglund Center. This event is open to all degree-seeking students at Pacific University. Winners receive scholarships and opportunities to work on their projects with professionals in the Berglund Center.

The competition is judged based on the innovation and creativity merit of an idea, rather than its financial or business potential.  Since this is an “ideas” competition, no previous prototype or proof-of-concept is needed to participate. Register by 5 p.m. Friday, April 21.

The competition, which will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 22, at McGill Auditorium in Murdock Hall, is all about formulating new solutions to problems you see around the world and presenting presenting your ideas to a panel of judges. All that is needed for the competition is an idea and a solution presented in the form of a slideshow! Each group will have five minutes to pitch their ideas. The judges are looking for the most creative and innovative ideas! These ideas can stem from any field of study.

Three winning teams will be announced at the competition. Up for grabs are awards worth up to $25,000 of financial support in the form of scholarships, funding, mentorship, business development, legal and product development assistance to turn your idea into an actual product/prototype during the next academic year. The winners also will become Fellows of the Berglund Center for the following school year!

Register by 5 p.m. Friday, April 21.
