Support for New Student Advising and Registration Steps: If you have any questions about the new student advising and registration process this summer, please email advisingcenter@pacificu.edu or use this Calendly link to schedule a 15-minute virtual appointment. This appointment is specifically to get support with the new student advising and registration steps. Students will not register for classes at this 15-minute appointment.
How to Prepare for Advising & Registration!
- Watch “Class Planning: Preparing for Advising and Registration” (30 min)
- This video will give you all the details on degree requirements and how to use BoxerOnline to track your progress, search and register for courses.
- Review online advising resources:
- Academic Programs at Pacific | Start thinking about possible areas of study (majors, minors, and/or graduate school prerequisites).
- Catalog | Look up program and degree requirements.
- Advising Handbook | Review advising tips and guidelines for each program. Pay attention to prerequisites and sequencing guidelines for courses.
- BoxerOnline > Search for Classes | Review next year's class schedule and search for classes you may want to take.
- Know your Pacific University Net ID (your username) and password so that you can log on to BoxerOnline and Moodle on your Advising & Registration Day.
- Know your fall work or athletics schedule so you can schedule classes around those times if needed.
- Request official copies of transcripts and score reports to be sent to admissions@pacificu.edu (see Step 4 for directions on how to send official transcripts and score reports). Make sure you can access copies of unofficial college transcripts and AP or IB test scores, in case Pacific hasn’t yet received your official transcripts or scores yet.
- Write down a list of questions to ask your advisor.
Tips for In Person Advising & Registration
- Bring a laptop or tablet and charger. (Phone screens are too small for easily navigating BoxerOnline and registering for classes.)
- Review Pacific's campus maps (PDF you can print or online/interactive) and your schedule for the day to know where you will need to be and at what time (give yourself a few extra minutes).
Tips for Virtual Advising & Registration
- Make sure you have steady internet access for the entire day and a quiet, private space for your one-hour Advising Appointment (wear earbuds if needed, turn on your webcam if possible).
- Use a laptop or tablet for your advising appointment (phone screens are too small for easily screen sharing and navigating BoxerOnline).
- Download the Zoom Workplace app ahead of time.
- Be prepared to share your screen during your advising appointment. Mac users will need to enable screen sharing before you join the meeting under System Preferences > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording, enable for Zoom.
