Bring your passion for movement to Pacific University. Dance Talent Scholarships support incoming first-year and transfer students who plan to pursue a dance major or dance minor and want to keep performing throughout their college experience. Awards range from $1,000 to $7,000 for dance majors and $1,000 to $3,000 for dance minors, and are offered based on merit, talent, and a strong commitment to dance.

How to Apply
The Talent Scholarships in Dance are intended to help support distinguished dance students who plan to pursue a dance major or dance minor. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $7,000 for dance majors and $1,000 to $3,000 for dance minors. They are renewable for up to 4 years while completing a dance major/minor and yearly participation in Pacific Dance Ensemble performing company.
To apply for a talent scholarship, you must be accepted through Admissions before submitting an application.
Application Process at a Glance
Step 1: Email your intent to apply. Send a brief message to camp1759@pacificu.edu and talentauditions@pacificu.edu.
Step 2: Submit your application package. Complete the online application at least two weeks before your in-person audition.
Step 3: Schedule your interview. After you submit your application, the department will contact you to schedule an interview via Zoom.
Step 4: Watch for your award notification. Applicants will be notified of their award by the Office of Financial Aid.
Application Package
- Letter of recommendation: Submit one letter from a dance instructor or mentor through the application.
- Dance resume: Upload a PDF resume saved as Firstname.Lastname.Resume.pdf such as Loie.Fuller.Resume.pdf.
- Resume details: Include your name, address, email, phone number, high school and location, current GPA, intent to complete a dance major or minor, dance training, performance experience, featured roles, works, guest artists, and performance details.
- Video audition link: If auditioning by video, place a link to your 2-minute solo at the top of your resume and make sure faculty can access it through YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive.
- Headshot: Attach a separate 8 x 10 black-and-white headshot photo as a JPEG file.
- Dance photo option: Attach one separate JPEG file: either an 8 x 10 black-and-white side-view photo in first arabesque or an 8 x 10 full-bodied contemporary dance image that clearly showcases body lines.
Video Audition
- Record your solo: Prepare a 2-minute solo in any dance form that represents your talent.
- Introduce yourself: Include a brief introduction and explain why you would like to attend Pacific University’s Dance Program.
- Add the video link to your resume: Place the link at the top of your resume using YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive.
- Check access: Make sure the link is accessible to dance faculty before you submit your application package.
- Choose appropriate attire: Wear attire that fits your solo’s dance style and review the audition attire requirements below.

- Hair: Keep hair neat and out of your face.
- Shoes: Choose shoes appropriate for your solo and dance genre.

Once you have submitted your application, you will be notified to schedule an interview.
Requirements for scholarship awardees: Students who receive a dance talent scholarship are expected to pursue a dance major or minor and participate in Pacific Dance Ensemble yearly.
