Ballots for Oregon's May 19 primary election will start arriving in mailboxes on April 29th. This means undergraduate students will receive ballots before the exam period starts but they won't be due back until after classes are out for the summer. It is vital that you carefully consider where you want your ballot mailed and how you plan to return it! Graduate student schedules may vary - but it's still a good idea to think about where you will be and what your voting plan is.

If you are an Oregon voter (students can decide if they want to vote in Oregon or another home state), please check your voter registration and mailing address ASAP. The McCall Center has resources to help you explore why this election matters, how best to register / check your registration, and where to find additional support (e.g. if you're voting in another state).

President Coyle and Provost May have approved the following members of the faculty for scheduled sabbaticals during the 2026-2027 academic year. Join staff from the Student Counseling Center and be trained in Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR), a nationally recognized suicide prevention training. This empirically-validated training will equip you to recognize the warning signs, clues, and suicidal communication of people at risk as well as gain the skills to act and help save a life.

Under Oregon law, if a non-exempt employee works six (6) hours or more in a work period, the employer is required to provide a meal period of at least 30 continuous minutes during which the employee is completely relieved of all duties. What happens when an employee can’t get an uninterrupted 30-minute break? If a non-exempt employee is not relieved of all duties for a full, continuous 30-minute meal period, the employer must pay the employee for the entire 30-minute meal period.

Over 40 staff have signed up to work at the May 16 Commencement Ceremonies, but 10 more are needed. On May 1st at 7:30 pm on the stage of McCready Hall at the Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center at Pacific University, the Pacific University Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Dijana Ihas, will present an exciting program of works by Béla Bartók, Maurice Ravel, Joseph Haydn, and Franz Schubert.
