Student Counseling Center Fall 2026 Info and Offerings
The Student Counseling Center is excited to share updates about our department, expanded mental health & wellbeing offerings, and upcoming fall trainings & workshops. To make this information as accessible as possible, we’ve highlighted the most significant changes and opportunities for collaboration below. We ask that you assist the SCC in spreading awareness and of these resources, workshops, and offerings described below.
-
Maddie Franke has started as our new Coordinator of Student Wellbeing and will be working with Graham Turner to support mental health and wellbeing programming for all of our students across all campuses and modalities.
-
Maddie and Graham are also in the process of building out a new wellbeing space in the Milky Way on our Forest Grove campus. While the Milky Way will continue to house some outdoor gear rentals, the front area is being transformed into a student wellbeing lounge with new massage chairs, supported by an award from the Washington County Community Health Improvement Plan.
-
Drop-In Yoga with Ingrid is available every Tuesday from 3-4 in the Milky Way.
-
-
Workshops and mental health trainings remain an important part of the SCC’s work; equipping faculty and staff to recognize and respond to student needs while helping students build skills, awareness, and confidence in supporting their mental health. Please see the flyer below to learn more and you can visit the sign-up form here.
-
The SCC is now using Counseling Center Assessment of Psychological Symptoms (CCAPS) instruments. The CCAPS instruments are an empirically-validated assessment tool to assist with tracking student mental health outcomes and ensure effective care.
-
The Healthy Minds Study will return this fall, providing critical longitudinal data on student mental health and wellbeing since its first administration in 2023. The survey is expected to launch in November, and more information will be shared about the important role our campus community can play in encouraging student participation
-
We continue to offer community engagement presentations to classes, cohorts, student organizations as well as faculty and staff. If you are interested in scheduling a SCC presentation for a class, please check out our Community Engagement Form.
-
For Graduate and Professional Programs: We have a new offering for classes/cohort that was specifically developed for healthcare and helping professionals. This presentation focuses on burnout prevention and compassion fatigue in these populations, equipping students to navigate rotation, internship, and other placements.
-
The Faculty and Staff Guide for Student Mental Health is available as an attached PDF, with an accompanying asynchronous Moodle training for those who would like to deepen their knowledge and preparedness to support students.
-
SCC Drop-In Support: Available Monday–Friday at noon. Call or email the SCC before noon to arrange an in-person or virtual appointment. Students may also stop by either our Forest Grove or Hillsboro offices before or during the noon hour when that location is open; staff will help connect students with available support.
