Under the direction of Dr. Abbie Brown, the Pacific University Symphonic Band will share their spring concert program “The Suite Life.” The centerpiece of this program is Gustav Holst's Second Suite in F, a masterwork for wind band. The remaining works on the program represent aspects of a ‘sweet’ or good life. It is the Symphonic Band’s hope that as the audience experiences this program, the music will align with what they believe it means to lead a sweet life. The remaining works on the program include “Mother Earth Fanfare” by David Maslanka, “Adoration” by Florence Price and arranged by Cheldon Williams, “Simple Gifts: Four Shaker Songs” by Frank Ticheli, “Sweet Like That” by Christopher Theofanids, “One Life Beautiful” by Julie Giroux, and “Halcyon Hearts” by Katahj Copley.
