Charlie Kerns '21: Outstanding Senior in Music Education; College of Arts & Sciences Dean of Students Award

KernsCharlie Kerns ’21 is Pacific University’s  Outstanding Senior in Music Education and a recipient of the College of Arts & Sciences Dean of Students Award.

“In their time as a resident assistant over the last three years, Charlie has been a dedicated advocate for others,” their nominators said. “Charlie is a friendly face that residents and other students who live off campus recognize as someone they can go to for assistance and support. They strive to ensure that all programming for their residents encompasses an equity, diversity and inclusivity lens, and that no one is left behind.”

Kern, who majored in music education and says they play “way too many instruments,” also served as a music theory peer tutor.

Kerns, who is from Boulder Creek, Calif., graduated in May 2021.

Fellow graduates Jaclyn Marchioro ’21 and Elijah Pine ’21 also were named Outstanding Seniors in Music Education. Chris Walker ’21 and Ka’imi Won ’21 also received the Dean of Students Award.
