A surge in students pursuing music degrees at Pacific University over the past decade is expected to continue this fall.
The Pacific University String Project has been awarded the 2018 Outstanding String Project of the Year Award by the American String Teachers Association and the National String Project Consortium.
The project, funded by a Faith Gabelnick grant, concluded with a joint concert on April 24.

Students in Strings Project
Pacific University's Strings Music Project, under the direction of assistant professor Dijana Ihas, continues to grow. Ihas, director and master teacher, has received a grant from the National String Project Consortium to further develop the highly successful program that provides string music instruction to local elementary and middle school children. The first installment of the grant is $24,650.
