Welcome to the New Student Checklist! This resource is designed to support both students and their families as you prepare to join the Pacific University community. From essential tasks to optional opportunities, the checklist will help you stay organized and on track—making it easier to navigate your next steps and start your journey at Pacific with confidence.
Once admitted to Pacific, every student must:
- Activate your Pacific account (Gmail @ PacificU) | Set up your Pacific email early—it’s your main source for important updates, deadlines, and info throughout your time here. Learn how to set up your account.
- Complete the University Housing Application or Residency Requirement Exemption Form | Get ready to join the Pacific community by living on our beautiful Forest Grove campus! Log in to eRezLife to apply for housing and find a roommate. For deadlines, step-by-step instructions, or to request a residency exemption, visit the Campus Living website. Deadline: Housing applications are due by June 11, 2026.
- Save the date for New Student Orientation: (Friday, August 28 – Sunday, August 30, 2026) and any early arrival requirements.
- Make Travel Plans | Be sure to check out the nearby hotels, many even offer special discounts to Pacific guests!

Required pre-arrival steps you need to take:
- Complete all academic advising & registration tasks | Below are the steps necessary to follow in order to sign up for a New Student Advising and Registration appointment to register for your first semester at Pacific! Information will be sent to your Pacific University email, so keep checking it frequently. This is where students will be able to access all of the following items.

Complete the Academic Interest Survey (AIS)
The first step in the course registration process: The AIS gives your academic advisors valuable insight into your educational background, career goals, and academic interests, helping us place you in courses that align with your plans.The survey is emailed directly to deposited students and takes about 30 minutes to complete. Once submitted, you'll begin receiving key next steps via email, including math and language placement details and an invitation to register for your Summer Advising & Registration Event.
- Submit final official high school and/or official college transcripts
Including AP/IB test scores (if applicable).
- Complete math and language assessments (if applicable)
Details emailed after steps 1 and 2 are complete.

- Sign up for Your Advising & Registration Day.
Registration opens to students once they have completed the required steps above and more information will be sent directly to students via email. Save the date: Prepare for your Advising & Registration Day ahead of time.
- Take placement/skills assessments (if applicable)
- Enroll in or Waive Student Health Insurance | All students are automatically billed for Pacific’s health plan unless you submit a waiver to opt out. Insurance waiver and insurance waiver instructions can be found through the Student Accounts webpage. Questions on student health insurance? - Review and Accept Your Financial Aid Offer | Log into BoxerOnline to review, accept, and sign your financial aid offer for the year. Don’t wait—secure your grants, scholarships, loans, or work-study today! Questions about your Financial Aid package? Contact the Office of Financial Aid at 503-352-2857 or financialaid@pacificu.edu.
- Submit Immunization Records | New students must submit immunization documentation including Measles/MMR vaccine dates, as required by the State of Oregon. Complete required Immunizations Form (Fillable) and then upload documents via the Student Health Center. Questions on immunizations? Contact 503-352-2269 or healthcenter@contact.pacificu.edu.
- View Your Fall Bill | Access your billing information through BoxerOnline. Questions on your fall bill? Contact Student Accounts at 503-352-2128 or studentaccounts@pacificu.edu.
- Submit Disability Accommodations Requests | If you have a disability or need specific accommodations, be sure to submit your request and documentation to the Office of Accessibility & Accommodations (OAA) so our team can coordinate the support you need for a successful start at Pacific. Deadlines: June for housing, early August for academics. More info at pacificu.edu/oaa
- Upload Your Student ID Photo by August 1 | Your Pacific student ID gives you access to housing, meals, and campus resources. Submit your photo by August 1 to avoid delays—especially if you're an early-arrival athlete. If not submitted by the deadline, you'll need to take one at check-in with Campus Public Safety.
- Review the Student Code of Conduct | Get to know the expectations and standards that help create a respectful, safe, and inclusive community at Pacific by reviewing the Student Code of Conduct.
Optional steps you might still need to do:
- Bringing a Car? Apply for a Parking Permit by August 1 | All vehicles staying on campus must have a valid Pacific University parking permit. If you're moving to campus this fall, submit your request online by August 10 to ensure your permit is ready at move-in. Deadline: August 1 to have permits available to pick up at check in.
- Know Key Dates | Check the Academic Calendar through the Registrar’s Office.
- Update Your Name or Legal Sex Designation | Pacific supports updates to your legal name, chosen/preferred first name, and legal sex designation to ensure our records reflect your identity. Submit a request here.
- Save Campus Public Safety's Number: 503-352-2230 | Available 24/7 for lockouts, escorts, or emergencies—add CPS to your phone for quick access to help anytime.
- Check Your Boxer Alerts | Stay informed about campus emergencies by checking your Boxer Alerts preferences. See also: A Guide to Campus Safety at Pacific.
- Apply for On-Campus Jobs | Interested in admin work, research, dining services, or the library? On-campus jobs are a convenient way to earn money, build your resume, and connect with the Pacific community. Visit the student career page to find opportunities that fit your interests and schedule.
- Review FERPA & Release of Information Policy | Pacific University is committed to protecting your privacy. Student information cannot be shared without explicit consent.

- Purchase or Rent Your Textbooks | Textbooks can be purchased or rented through the Pacific University Bookstore. Order your course materials early, for the best selection—used books go fast! Visit the bookstore website.
- Preview Move-In Day and Print the Packing List | Get ready for a smooth start by checking out what to expect on move-in day and making sure you have everything you need. Preview move-in details and print the packing list.
- Name your Emergency Contacts | For your safety and in compliance with FERPA guidelines, students must provide their own emergency contact information. Please select trusted individuals (parents, guardians, relatives, or friends) whom Pacific can contact quickly if needed.Add your Emergency Contacts through Boxer Online.
