Film Studies Minor

Develop a deeper understanding of the cultural and political significance of film.

Gain exposure to a wide variety of national cinemas and film genres and theories — simply to enhance your understanding of film or in preparation for graduate work in film studies, social sciences, humanities and the arts. Complete an intensive, year-long, self-designed senior capstone project and integrate film courses offered in media arts, English, political science, world languages and other academic fields.

Internships are a key component of the program. Our students have interned at KATU TV (the ABC affiliate in Portland, Ore.), with independent filmmakers, a National Guard newspaper and Voltage Pictures, among other communications outlets.
