Become an Authorized Driver

Our insurance carrier requires that ALL employees and students, who drive, or intend to drive, University-owned OR rented vehicles (under the University's name & use of University insurance), be approved through our Driver Training Program.

The Driver Training Program has been reviewed and approved by our insurance carrier and is in place for all students, staff, and faculty that wish to become an Authorized University Driver.

If interested in becoming an Authorized Driver of University vehicles, please first read the Driver Training Program (pdf) document for the necessary steps for each specific situation.

Once you have read the Driver Training Program document, and determined the steps to becoming an Authorized Driver, the following may be required:

• Motor Pool Driver Responsibilities (pdf)
• Valid Driver's License
• Driver Information Sheet (pdf)
• DMV Record Check Authorization Form (pdf) (ONLY for OREGON License Holders)
• Driving Record Screening Requirements (pdf)
• Await approval from insurance carrier
• Fueling Safety Test
• Computer-based training session
• Golf Cart training session
• Behind-the Wheel training session
• Snow chain training session

Mileage Rate: $0.50 per mile, $15.00 Minimum Charge

Mileage Rate: $0.65 per mile, $20.00 Minimum Charge
7 Passenger Vehicle (including driver)

12 Passenger/Cargo Van

Mileage Rate: $0.65 per mile, $20.00 Minimum Charge
12 Passenger Vehicle (including driver)

Truck

Mileage Rate: $0.80 per mile, $22.00 Minimum Charge
6 Passenger Vehicle (including driver)

Mini Bus

Mileage Rate: $0.80 per mile, $22.00 Minimum Charge
15 Passenger Vehicle (including driver)

Trailer

No additional charges

Reimbursement Mileage Rate (Personal Vehicle)

 67¢ per mile (Effective Jan. 1, 2024)
