Box Implementation Project

Pacific will be replacing our current Vault (aka Xythos) file share system with a solution from box.com (Box). All faculty, staff, and students who are currently using Vault will migrate to the new Box service.

Why Are We Doing It

This change is happening as a result of a survey of faculty and staff last fall regarding their file sharing needs and experiences with Vault. While no single solution will be perfect for everybody, Box was found to offer a number of improvements that are in high demand:

  • Mobile-friendly
  • Broad compatibility with a variety of browsers
  • User-friendly web interface
  • More storage
  • Highly responsive
  • Extensive online help
  • Compliant with HIPAA requirements

Who is Involved

The University Technology Committee (UTC) is the sponsor of this project. Implementation is being done by University Information Services staff in coordination with Vault departmental space administrators. See our list (PUnet ID logon required) of Vault departmental spaces and the administrators we are working with to transition those spaces to Box.
