Become a well-rounded music education major through Pacific University's Bachelor of Arts in Music Education Degree.
Pacific University’s BA in music education degree is designed for students who are interested in earning an undergraduate music education degree within a liberal arts context that does not necessarily lead them to a teaching license or full-time teaching professional engagements. The program design also allows students to pursue double degrees in other disciplines.
Prepare for Graduate-Level Licensure Programs
In just five years, some students earn both their BA and an MAT before gaining employment as a music teacher. The BA in Music Education program does not led directly to licensure, instead it prepares students to pursue a teaching license through graduate programs.
Students can continue in the College of Education’s Master of Arts in Teaching program or through other programs to earn their teaching license.
Students seeking licensure at an undergraduate level can alternatively pursue a Bachelor in Music Education.
Music Training & Performance
Receive individualized performance instruction with faculty members and adjunct instructors. Perform in a wide range of ensembles and enjoy award-winning facilities — including a 400-seat recital hall, a piano lab with Kawai electronic units, a Mac-based MIDI lab, practice rooms with pianos, a percussion studio and rehearsal space that replicates the recital hall. Travel with performance groups to major cities in the U.S. and abroad.

The joint concert with Pacific's Chamber Singers, Concert Choir and Philharmonic Orchestra on May 5 marks the end of a storied career for Distinguished University Professor of Music Scott Tuomi, who retires this spring.
Pacific University Choral Director and Professor Scott Tuomi was honored with The John C. McManus Distinguished Teacher Award in January by the Oregon Music Education Association.
"Sammie's enduring passion for musical theatre and her dedication to hard work with musicians, actors, and stage crew makes her a perfect candidate for this award," said Professor Dijana Ihas.
