Pacific University undergraduates now have the opportunity to broaden their understanding of the world through the new Global Scholars Program. Starting with a first-year seminar and companion travel experience, participating students will complete a set of requirements focused on international and diverse perspectives, mastering a second language, studying or interning abroad, and finally integrating global learning into the senior capstone.

Helen Sharp
Dr. Helen Sharp has received the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA)’s 2020 Distinguished Service Award. Sharp, who is a professor and director of the Pacific University School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, is a past president of the organization and a member since 1988. The Distinguished Service Award recognizes individual service to the ACPA.

Congratulations to the 13 faculty members approved for tenure by the Board of Trustees. Another 21 faculty members were promoted, while 16 other faculty members were granted sabbatical leaves for the 2020-2021 academic year. Learn more about their work at Pacific. 
Debra Gwartney, professor of MFA writing, is a Oregon Book Award in Creative Nonfiction finalist for 2020.
