Dean & Professor

Jennifer Coyle is the Dean of the Pacific University College of Optometry. Dr. Coyle, a graduate of Pacific University, completed a residency in contact lenses at the same institution and a Master's of Science in Clinical Optometry.  She team-taught the contact lens didactic, laboratory and clinical curriculum for 14 years at Pacific University.

Mark P. Andre has more than 30 years of experience in the field of contact lenses.

Dr. Bulson is currently an associate professor at the Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon, where he serves as lead instructor for the Clinical Optometric Methods and Procedures course for first year optometry students. In this role, he also serves as clinical attending doctor in a variety of services, including primary eye care, ocular disease, vision therapy, and pediatrics. He is a graduate of the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry and completed his residency in hospital based primary care optometry at the Portland Veterans Hospital in Portland, Oregon, where he continues to serve America's veterans today. He has also previously served as the Chief of Optometry at the Jonathan C Wainwright Veterans Hospital in Walla Walla, WA. His Master's thesis investigated the role of retinal defocus (blurred vision) during simulated athletic performance. He continues to pursue research investigating the role of vision in sports, as well as the visual and ocular anomalies associated with traumatic brain injury (TBI) in veterans returning from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, he is a consultant for the EyePACS Tele-Retina imaging program, which screens for sight threatening conditions in indigent populations. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG).

Associate Professor

Patrick Caroline serves as an associate professor at Pacific University College of Optometry. He team-teaches the contact lens curriculum.


Dr. Karl Citek teaches optics and environmental vision and supervises student interns in the Pacific EyeTrends Forest Grove Low Vision Clinic.

Part-Time Assistant Professor

Dr. Doll teaches laboratories and lectures regarding ocular disease and procedural techniques, and she is the lead instructor for the elective course, Spanish for the Eye Care Practitioner.


Dr. Eakland is well known for his interest in cutting-edge technology. He was the associate dean for clinical programs at the College of Optometry from 1999-2013 and served as interim dean in 2006.


Dr. Erickson is an expert in sports vision, and his research interests also include pediatric optometry, binocular vision and vision therapy.


Dr. Goodwin is involved in our neurology and procedures curriculum.

Dr. Ho is an Assistant Professor with the College of Optometry who received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2012 from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry after earning her BS degree in Biochemistry/Cell Biology from the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Fraser Horn is Associate Dean of Academic Programs. Along with his passion for teaching, he has a passion for sports vision and ocular disease.

Associate Professor & Director, Pacific EyeClinic Forest Grove

Dr. Kinoshita is an associate professor and serves as the Director of the Pacific Eye Clinic in Forest Grove and as an instructor for the Patient Care and Contact Lens courses.


Dr. Kundart teaches several new courses in optometry, keeping the college on the cutting edge of the profession.

Hannu Laukkanen is a clinical professor of optometry who has published several articles and serves as an expert on brain injury cases.

Dr. Liu is currently an associate professor at the Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon.


Dr. Lowery is chief of pediatrics for the Pacific University EyeClinics, and his research interests include pediatric procedures, pediatric visual impairments, children with special needs and humanitarian vision care.

Paula Luke is an Associate Professor of Optometry at Pacific University.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Montana State University in Bozeman, MT and completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at Pacific University College of Optometry, as well as her post-doctoral residency in Pediatrics, Vision Therapy and Visual Rehabilitation.

Caroline Ooley, OD, FAAO is an Assistant Professor with the College of Optometry. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of California at San Diego with a B.S. in Human Biology and double minors in Health Care/Social Issues and Spanish Literature. She then went on to complete a doctorate degree in optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry.

Yu-Chi Tai MA, PhD is an associate professor and director of the Vision Science Graduate Programs with the College of Optometry

Clinical Professor, Associate Dean of Clinical Programs, Distinguished University Professor

Carole Timpone's expertise is in ocular disease, glaucoma and primary care optometry.

Associate Professor, Director of VPI Research

Dr. Yang’s research and graduate work is on cognitive neuroscience with emphasis on cognitive control of eye movements in reading.


Lorne Yudcovitch is Pacific's ocular disease clinical attending doctor. His expertise is in advanced ocular imaging, diabetes and glaucoma management, eye disease pharmacological treatment, and pediatric examinations.
