Pacific University is a private, fully accredited university with more than 65 undergraduate fields of study and 16 graduate and professional programs. With colleges in the Arts & Sciences, Optometry, Education, Health Professions and Business, our four Oregon campuses draw nearly 3,600 students a year.

Students come from every state, as well as from around the world, to live and study at Pacific University. The Pacific experience is rooted in small classes, a nurturing learning environment, and personal attention. Our students learn directly from the university’s full-time faculty members, who are devoted to teaching and to forming close mentoring relationships with their students. Our curriculum emphasizes real-world experience, service learning, and preparation to contribute to a global community.

Pacific University is committed to diversity, sustainability, discovery and excellence, and to inspiring students to think, care, create and pursue justice in a global community.

Student Life

The typical undergraduate student experience at Pacific University takes place on our Forest Grove Campus, where students don’t just study; they become part of a community.

Pacific University hosts more than 60 student clubs and organizations, ranging from student government and Greek life to service organizations and cultural clubs. More than a third of our undergraduate students participate in our 24 NCAA Division III varsity sports teams and we also offer junior varsity basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, and soccer, along with intramural sports and a vibrant outdoor adventure program.

Students in Forest Grove have access to a vibrant residential community in our residence halls, three of which were built in the past decade. In Pacific housing, students build lifelong relationships with peers, enjoy robust social activities and benefit from the support from live-in staff members.

Deep Roots, Future Focus

Pacific University was founded in Forest Grove in 1849 by Congregationalist pioneers and is the first chartered university west of the Mississippi. Our history runs deep, but today, we focus on your future.

We are committed to a rich liberal arts experience that prepares students to become thinkers and leaders who thrive in a dynamic world. At the same time, we know the value of preparing students for sustainable careers after college as well. Our graduates go on to successful careers and further study in a vast range of fields, from the health professions to business and from nonprofit work to the sciences.

In a recent survey of alumni of the past decade, our graduates said that Pacific University prepared them well for the career world and 82 percent were working within six months of graduation.
